This stormer was featured on the "Night Train to Nashville" comp a couple of years back. Most would call it a Little Richard rip-off, but I think it surpasses any Richard recording (or at least any I've heard). "She Can Rock" was originally released in '59, and remains the only known record put out by Isaac "Little Ike" Hamilton. As well as being a solid RnB dancer, it gives hint to the grit which became influential in the early garage sound.
Jimmy Norman was an accomplished songwriter who helped pen the Irma Thomas hit, "Time Is On My Side" and many other memorable classics. He was also involved in projects with everyone from the O'Jays and Lloyd Price to Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. He even had a 30 year stint with the Coasters (post-50's hits), but he never really gained much noteriety. This RnB rocker came out on the Little Star label in 1962. With it's hillarious intro, the song transcends into a real angst-ridden groover about packin' up and movin' on. The flip (Tell Her For Me) is a much slower ballad but a real strong track as well.
